Changes in Social Media - Reprint
Posted on July 10th, 2009 No commentsI found this white paper from Social Media Today subscription. The information wide and deep. It covers What areas of businesses are using Social Media and those that are not. It documents the differences in use between small (<1000) and large companies. It identifies the leading Social Media Services being used and much, much more. It is well worth the time to link and read the white paper.
From Social Media Today June 25, 2009
Shift Happens - Our New White Paper Tells You Why
In a major paradigm shift that is impacting public relations and marketing oranizations, companies are now viewing social media as their front line strategy for customer engagement, immediate contact, and lead generation. This means the software tools we use in the social space will be changing a lot too. This gamebreaker call was based on research developed by our resident trendspotter, Josh Gordon, in Social Media Today’s latest free download white paper The Coming Change In Social Media
It’s our focus here at Social Media Today to help frame the issues and put them into perspective so that community members can use them as a roadmap and drive the future of social media. Don’t get behind the curve. Download the free white paper now.

Social Media Workshop 7/18/09
Posted on July 4th, 2009 No commentsOn Saturday July 18, 2009 there will be a two hour overview of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter at the Ocean Yoga Center in Atlantic Beach, FL from 1 - 3 pm. It is followed by an hour and a half Facebook Intensive at 3:30 - 5 pm.
If you have heard of these Social Media sites but are not sure what they are the first workshop is for you. We will explain how each of these Social Media Sites are used; the purpose, why they are important, how they are used and why it may matter to you.
If you want to set up a facebook account or go more in depth with Facebook the second Workshop at 3:30 is for you.
Having an understanding of these three Social Media web sites has become mandatory for “Living in the Now”. Twitter is in the news all the time. Whether it is the election in Iran or the death of Michael Jackson, Twitter is mentioned by the news as a way people are talking about these events.
Facebook has 200 million users and 100 million of these sign on to Facebook everyday. If you have teenagers at home, the odds are they are on Facebook. What is the attraction? What is the draw? Find out why so many of us are becoming Facebook addicts.
LinkedIn, the nextwork of the professionals. That is people that work at companies, own companies or are looking for jobs at companies. This Workshop will give a high level overview of LinkedIn.
Attached is the flyer for the Workshop and the website for Ocean Yoga where the event is being held. Directions to the Studio are on the website.

Facebook and iPhoto
Posted on July 2nd, 2009 No commentsI have a Mac. So, there are special challenges that exist when trying to upload photos. It is a pain to export a photo to the desktop and then upload it to Facebook. I found a site that has a plugin for iPhoto that takes the photo or album directly from iPhoto. It works very well and was easy to install. Here is the site:

Stimulating My Economy
Posted on April 1st, 2009 6 commentsI’ve focused the last several weeks on stimulating my economy by developing a new stream of incoming cash flow. For those of you that are doing the same thing here are some things I’ve learned and want to share. I’m also interested in what others are doing and the results that you are having.
First, nothing tops the help of friends. Those friends that can put in a good word or those friends that focus on keeping your spirits up. Both are invaluable.
Second, working with good recruiters. Most of the positions that are opening up in my field in Jacksonville right now are contract jobs. A good recruiter is a must to be considered.
Third, Using the Linkedin website. It is a wonderful way for me to reconnect with colleagues that I haven’t worked with in quite a while. This will be an active part of my career from now on.
Fourth, I’ve taken some webinars to increase my skills at finding a job and interviewing once a job is found. Here are a couple of sources that I’ve used and I’m happy with the results.
Kevin Kermes - Build the Career You Deserve
Fifth, Built a web site. I used a company from Orange Park: Magic Angel
I called the owner when I was looking for someone to help me and he spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me answering all of my questions. Marv is his name and he is super. He also has a special business card website. This is an example of that for a good price.
